The two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss, who were defamed by Rudy Giuliani during the 2020 presidential election, are seeking to take possession of Giuliani’s multimillion-dollar homes in New York and Florida, as well as some valuable personal property, including three Yankees World Series rings. They were awarded $146 million in damages after Giuliani was found liable for defamation against them. Freeman and Moss argue that Giuliani has not complied with court orders and is unlikely to voluntarily satisfy their judgment. They are seeking to take possession of his properties and personal assets to satisfy the judgment.
Giuliani’s spokesperson has called the verdict “objectively unreasonable” and accused opposing counsel of harassment. Freeman and Moss testified that Giuliani’s false accusations of election fraud led to racist and violent threats against them, forcing them out of their jobs and homes. They are seeking possession of Giuliani’s cash accounts, jewelry, luxury property, and other valuables to satisfy the judgment against him.
Giuliani filed for bankruptcy after the judgment but failed to provide necessary information, leading to the dismissal of his case. Freeman and Moss accuse him of claiming permanent residence in Florida to protect his property from seizure, despite evidence indicating he has not actually resided there. They are seeking a judgment that their lien on the property is enforceable and that Giuliani’s claims of homestead status are without merit. Giuliani’s spokesperson maintains that he is the victim of a weaponized justice system for political purposes.
