A 31-year-old man from Clay County is facing multiple charges after breaking into the home of an 81-year-old woman on Thanksgiving Day. Jordan Blake allegedly set the woman’s carpet on fire, stole her gun, and left his pants behind as evidence.
The woman, who was asleep at the time of the break-in, woke up to the smell of smoke and discovered an unknown bag in her home. She armed herself with a pistol and confronted Blake, who was armed with a knife. Blake disarmed the woman, threw her gun on the bed, and attempted to force his way into another room where she had barricaded herself. Despite injuring her shoulder in the struggle, the woman was able to fight off Blake.
Deputies arrived at the scene to find evidence linking the crime to Blake, including his wallet, phone, ID, and a pipe with drug residue in the pants he left behind. Blake is currently being held on a $200,000 bond and is facing charges of first-degree burglary, armed criminal action, and knowingly burning and stealing a firearm. He pleaded not guilty at his first court appearance and is scheduled for a bond hearing on December 9.
