Buffalo Bills fans have come under fire for taunting Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes before their Week 11 matchup. The fans hung a Kermit the Frog doll dressed like Mahomes from a pole near the stadium, wearing his jersey and haircut with a rope around its neck. The choice of Kermit was due to the resemblance of Mahomes’ voice to the Muppets character. The photos of the doll went viral on social media, drawing criticism from NFL fans for disrespecting Mahomes.
This incident came before the Bills secured a 30-21 victory over the Chiefs, putting them just a half-game behind the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed. This win was significant as it marked the Chiefs’ first regular-season loss since Christmas Day last year. The Bills’ rivalry with the Chiefs has been intense, with the Chiefs eliminating them from the playoffs three of the last four years.
Despite this, the Bills have had the upper hand in their recent regular-season matchups, winning the last three games. The Bills will have a bye week in Week 12 before facing the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football on December 1. On the other hand, the Chiefs will take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 11. While the taunting of Mahomes before the game may have stirred controversy, the Bills’ victory has solidified their position as strong contenders in the AFC.
