Former Kansas football coach David Beaty has been announced as the new head coach at Denton High School in Texas, according to a press release by the Denton Independent School District. Beaty, who was fired by Kansas after the 2018 season, has since worked in various coaching roles before landing this position. With roots in the Texas high school football scene, Beaty brings both high school and collegiate coaching experience to his new role. In his previous stint at Kansas, Beaty struggled with a 6-42 record before being let go during the 2018 season. Following a legal battle with Kansas that ended in a settlement, Beaty now looks forward to leading the athletic program at Denton High School.
Denton ISD Athletic Director Joey Florence praised Beaty’s coaching abilities and his connection with students and families, calling him an incredible asset to the program. Beaty will also serve as the school’s athletic coordinator, taking over from the previous coach, Billy Miller.
