Blue Springs family honors the memories of four loved ones lost in 2022 tornado

Severe weather preparedness week is being observed from March 3-7, prompting many to remember the devastation caused by tornados in the past. One such incident occurred on March 5, 2017, when a tornado in Iowa took the lives of a Blue Springs family. Kuri Bolger, her husband, and two children were killed, leaving her and her son Bryson to rebuild their lives. After the tornado, Bolger was left with a broken leg and pelvis, enduring a long recovery process that continues to this day.

Despite the overwhelming loss, Bolger remains strong for her son and credits the support of her community for helping her through the grieving process. Friends and loved ones recently gathered in Blue Springs on the anniversary of the tragedy to remember the family with a balloon release. Bolger emphasizes the importance of appreciating what you have, as life can change in an instant due to severe weather. She also stresses the importance of having a severe weather plan in place to ensure safety during potential future emergencies.
